March 2019 A few months ago, we started working with the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) senior drop-in centre down the street in order to start an intergenerational dialogue within our community.
We have been visiting each other every two weeks and spending time baking, singing and crafting together. We have slowly started to see real friendships forming between the young children and the older citizens during their time together playing and having fun.
Recently, they showed us a ball game not unlike at a carnival where you throw balls into a target to get points, and invited us to play. We enjoyed it very much and so we were very delighted when they offered to give us a board of our very own!
We plan to greet spring with walks in the park and exploring our neighbourhood further among other things. It has been an enriching experience for everyone involved and we hope to continue this exchange through the year.
